Wow, those are some serious coffee machine! I bet those coffee quality make by the machine is super ! You can open a coffee cafe already hahah.
Me been a lazy person, I opted for the easy way of using one press button Jura micro 8. Coffee quality is reasonable with enough coffee crema extract from the bean, also can do latte, expresso and cappuccino. I like the easy maintenance of the machine.

Come to think of it, Creative is quite good on audio design, may be some manager should suggest to Sim to set up a team and design high end audio. Consider those company like Scan speak or Vifa, with those technical know how, no matter how computer technology advance, they are still leader in their field.

Today, will try to simulated the crossover circuit frequency and phase response and crossover frequency point. A good LT spice tool can be found here : http://www.linear.com/designtools/software/#LTspice

Thanks for the info, will keep that in mind when I source for the crossover parts. Yes the bitumen sheets may just do the job and will need to source this from hardware store. For the speaker box , did you source the MDF board locally and get it cut locally? or you purchase the speaker box from china source? Anyway when I actual start the project will need more info from you as you have past experience in building this speaker, for now I am reading up the design info before proceed to build it.

I enjoy reading Sheldon blog on audio project many years ago, actually at that time was tempted to DIY his DAC project using CS4329 DAC when this DAC chip was just available in the market. He got a lot of interest DIY audio project and he is willing to share his design with hobbyists and designers. He works for  Creare - an advance R&D scientific company that work on NASA Hubble space telescope, and audio is his side hobby.
Enjoy the read...

My standard daily coffee bean- Spinelli brazilian blend , a robust with strong aroma with more bitter taste and close to dark roast type.

I manage to come across this Indonesia brand of coffee while visiting Bali, TORAJA arabica coffee bean, a nice mellow and aroma coffee. Anyone know whether you can get this locally in Singapore?

Also normally where you guy get your coffee bean from and what brand?

HiFi Audio DIY / ProAc 2.5 speaker inspire
« on: August 16, 2016, 02:26:22 PM »
This speaker is all time favourite of many users here. I happen to have two original ProAc 2.5 woofer speaker laying around the house, so thinking of doing this project..and so happen another user in another forum already started this project. So will be interesting to learn of his project experience and share the knowledge. Here is his project link.. http://myoldvintagehifi.blogspot.sg/
another link with technical info to built the ProAc 2.5 spk..  http://www.justblair.co.uk/blog/137-diy-proac-response-25.html

I have done a circuit simulation of the ProAc 2.5 crossover circuit using the Agilent ADS to look at the crossover frequency point and phase response. But will redo this exercise as a new project.. Next is to find a cheap source of the speaker box and crossover circuit parts and scan speak tweeter.

The original ProAc 2.5 use some kind of 'tar like wood pieces' to lay inside the speaker cabinet wall beside using the glass fiber, so the voicing of original speaker may be different due to the damping material, may have to experiment more to get the final voicing.

Hi Watchdog, welcome to our audio forum and hope you will share more of your audio experience so we all gain. For me my all time favourite and value for money list:

Speaker Cable- Nordost blue heaven $330 used ( for starter), upgrade to Nordost Hemidall $800 used , very detail sound and wide sound stage. and as you go up the Nordost range, the performance will improve one grade better. But Nordost cable may not work for all system as is not suited for a bright system and also depend on what genres of music you listen to.

Preamp - Krell KRC HR $2500-$3300, very well design preamp by Krell, seperate power supply for this preamp make the noise floor extremely low and able to hear deep into the sound stage, extra 6dB gain make it able to drive some difficult power amp, also good for rock music with the head room. female vocal is extremely nice as it would sound like singer is singing right in front of you. If you find one in the used market grap it asap as you will not regret it.

Room mode calculator-  If you have the resource and place, then choosing a golden ratio of room dimension will help to resolve a lot of acoustic issue. Of course , all this have to be plan well ahead with a room dimension that can provide a comfortable listening environment and best have a acoustic engineer to advice and help building the room.

I find the attached site provided allow you to enter your room dimension, then it will calculate where frequency beating occurs, the goal is to reduce the low frequency band 20 to 100Hz region frequency beating, as 300Hz to 20 Khz can easily use acoustic absorber/diffuser to solve it.
More info can read from their web site.
