Recently, my Marantz cd player keep have problem reading disc, so decide to replace with new laser len to keep it playing for a few more years. The replacing method is quite easy just need screw driver and careful when disassemble all the parts. Here it goes....
1) Removed the two solder bump from the new CD laser len (this is to prevent static when ship by vendor)

2) It should look like this after dis-solder.

3) remove the screw here and move the copper bar to left side and expose the cd transport holder.

4) after moving the copper bar, it will expose the 4 screws for the cd transport holder

5) next eject the cd holder as shown, then off the power supply. the cd tray need to be out , so that you can access to the cd laser len later.

6) removed the 4 screws from the metal plate

7) next remove the two small screws as shown

8) removed the metal plate holder and the cd laser len assemble can now be seen..

9) next removed the ribbon holder pins on bothside, and pull ribbon out from holder.

10) It should look like this now, also start remove the two screws holding the two holding metal rods.

11) now should look like this and able to remove the two metal rod holding the cd laser lens

12) cd laser len assemble is removed and replaced

13) after replaced with new laser len, now is reverse the process and assemble all parts back.

14) put back the two metal rods into the holder and screw back the two holding screw. Also put back ribbon into the connector holder and push back on two side to lock it again.

15) next is put back the black metal plate and screw back the two small screws, then the aluminum metal plate and put back the 4 screws that hold it

16) finally slide the copper rod back to position and put back the screw and all is done and ready for playing cd again. The process is quite simple and take less than 30 minutes to make the laser len change. The next time if you cd player giving u reading problem, you can try to change it yourself, is not that difficult.
