If you are into DIY projects, this site link has a lot of great audio circuit by John Linsley Hood and Nelson pass amplifier. Actually all the branded high end audio amplifier that we saw today has their start in the 50's as DIY project as this users were not happy with the mass produced amplifier performance then. But overtime it becomes an industry and i think it is getting over price more and more that most can ill afford it. May be the industry need a reset and start a fresh.
